Purpose:

The recent merger has resultedin various organizational changes. This has had an impact on some ofthe employees. Some arelikely to complain, resist directly or question the rationale of thedecision, while others will lose the resolve to work.

It is not always easy toidentify a decline in employees’ morale during changeimplementation. Frequent grumbling and complaint are some of the mostcommon indicators of a less motivated team. This is followed by arapid decline in the individual and group performance. In the recentpast, following the merger, there has been an increased number ofsick off, unexplained absenteeism, lateness, and conflicts.Additionally, the number of complaints from customers has more thandoubled since the merger process began. Both high and low performershave been affected by the changes. Some employees have expressedconcerns about job security and changes in work environments. Thereis a need for the management to adopt strategies that will motivatethe employees.

Solution:

Reward and recognitionprograms are essential in enhancing the morale of the employees. Thestrategy will improve motivation, productivity, and job satisfaction,and empower employees within the new structure and culture. They canbe monetary and nonmonetary. Acknowledgment has been proved to be aneffective approach to improving employees` performance. It involvesletting individuals and teams know that the management values theirhard work and efforts towards the achievement of the organizationgoals. This will make them feel cherished and, thus, improve theirmorale. It is important for managers and team leaders to incorporateappreciation strategies in their daily engagement with workers.

However, recognition should besupported by a reward program. The rewards go beyond praises, byaccompanying the credit with tangible items. For example, theorganization can adopt a motivation strategy that incorporates perks,travels and holidays, trophies, and merchandise as rewards toindividuals or teams that perform well. Additionally, the managementcan use monetary incentives such as bonuses and commissions toimprove productivity. However, the programs should be designed insuch a way that they positively impact on all workers.

Outcomes:

The reward and recognitionprogram will have positive impacts on the organization. The employeeswill be more enthusiastic and creative in the workplaces becausetheir efforts are acknowledged. It will create a corporate culture inwhich performance is valued and appreciated. Also, all individuals inthe organization will feel connected to the company and be part ofits success. The strategy will construct a better impression of thenew business environment created by the merger. Moreover, theemployee’s behaviors, the level of stress and wellbeing will beimproved as a result of more accommodative working environment.Consequently, the goals of the company will be achieved.
