MODULE 2 DISCUSSIONS 1

Communication competency entails a combination of values, skills,knowledge, and sensitivity (Schockley-Zalabak,2016). As such, I would encourage members of anorganization to become competent communicators by creating anenvironment that fosters effective communication. Argenti(2012) asserts that an effective organization strategyneeds to consider the objectives of a particular communication aswell as the available resources for the realization of these targets. This means that an organization should develop a culture of onlysending deliberate messages. Besides, it should ensure that everyemployee understands the reason behind its every move as this helpsto cultivate the desired values that enhance the workers’communication competencies. It is relatively easy for employees toconvey passionate and repetitive messages if they understand thegoals their efforts hope to achieve.

The second aspect of an organization strategy is the consideration ofthe available resources for the realizations of the set objectives(Argenti, 2012). On this note, members of anorganization can be motivated to become competent communicators byavailing the necessary resources. Resources, in this aspect, mean theskills and knowledge that members of an organization need tocommunicate effectively. For example, a company can organizetraining for its workers where they can learn how to convey clear,understandable, and repetitive messages.

Lastly, workers and other shareholders can be encouraged to becomecompetent communicators by building the organization’s credibility. According toArgenti (2012), an organization needs to consider diagnosing itsreputation for it to communicate strategically. It isimpossible for members of an organization to convey clear,understandable, and passionate messages about their company if theyhave a negative perception towards it. Sometimes workers tend tomisunderstand the reasons behind certain actions undertaken by themanagement, and this misunderstanding is likely to be reflected intheir communication.
