Based on your review of the Chapter 1materials, think about the concepts in the chapter and answer thefollowing questions:

  1. What are your reasons for enrolling in college and specifically at this college?

I chose to enroll in college since it willprovide me with an opportunity to pursue my professional goals.Besides, my academic life has imbibed me with competenttime-management and critical-thinking skills. Therefore, college willallow me to meet new people from different backgrounds. Hence, I willhave numerous experiences that will build my character. Inparticular, I chose this college because of its ideal location andacademic reputation. Furthermore, the campus offers pertinent coursesthat will enhance my skills. The natural beauty of its environmentwas also an important factor.

  1. How do you define success?

I view success as the accomplishment of setgoals and objectives. For example, my college experience will betermed as successful if I manage to acquire my qualification.Consequently, success should never be determined while makingcomparisons to other people.

  1. List 2-3 challenges you might encounter this semester. Explain in detail what those challenges are and at least one way you can overcome each challenge.

During this semester, I expect toexperience the following challenges:

  • Time management. The high school environment afforded little autonomy since all activities were meticulously laid out on the timetable. However, life in college has more freedom since students can decide whether to attend classes or not (Case, 2015). Notwithstanding, I will overcome this challenge by becoming self-disciplined to the point of planning for each day’s activities.

  • Peer pressure. Inevitably, colleges have a greater diversity of students in comparison to high schools (Bowen, 2013). Therefore, it may be easier to associate with students, who display harmful habits and attitudes. Nevertheless, I will overcome this challenge by seeking out friends, who exude confidence and hence exert a positive influence.

  1. What will motivate you to be successful?

I will keep meditating on my career goalsto help me endure any trials or challenges that may arise(Nist-Olejnik &amp Holschuh, 2016).Focusing on what I plan to achieve will motivate me to pursuesuccess.
